St. Kitts and Nevis Reaffirms UN Charter Commitment at CARICOM Ceremony

During a special commemorative gathering at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis joined member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in a symbolic signing ceremony of the United Nations Charter.

This high-profile event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter, originally signed on June 26, 1945. The ceremony allowed CARICOM nations to collectively reaffirm their commitment to international law, multilateral cooperation, peace, justice, human rights, and the sovereign equality of nations.

St. Kitts and Nevis was represented by Her Excellency Dr. Mutryce Williams, the country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who participated alongside her regional counterparts. Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew emphasized the significance of the occasion, noting that for small island developing states like St. Kitts and Nevis, the UN Charter remains a vital safeguard for ensuring their sovereignty is respected and that their developmental and climate resilience interests are advanced globally.
