I am honoured to have been invited to participate in the ASEAN Summit and the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2026 in Manila, Philippines, in my capacity as the High Commissioner of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Singapore.

At a time of profound geopolitical shifts, economic uncertainty, and evolving global partnerships, ASEAN represents an important model of regional cooperation, economic integration, dialogue, and collective progress. Its growing international influence offers valuable opportunities to strengthen cooperation across regions and continents.

For Saint Kitts and Nevis and the wider Caribbean, deeper engagement with ASEAN can open new avenues for trade, investment, tourism, digital transformation, renewable energy, food security, technology, and sustainable development. Our regions may be geographically distant, but we share many common aspirations, particularly in advancing economic resilience, protecting the interests of small island developing states, and creating greater opportunities for our people.

As I join distinguished leaders, policymakers, diplomats, investors, and business entrepreneurs from across Asia and the world, I look forward to meaningful dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and the development of partnerships that translate shared ambitions into tangible outcomes.

In an increasingly interconnected world, diplomacy must serve not only national interests but also the broader goals of peace, stability, economic opportunity, and mutual respect. Small nations must have a strong voice in global discussions, and regional partnerships must become bridges connecting markets, people, knowledge, and innovation.

I firmly believe that closer cooperation between ASEAN and the Caribbean can contribute to a more inclusive, balanced, and prosperous global community.

I look forward to engaging with fellow leaders and business partners in Manila and to advancing a vision of international cooperation that connects Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and the wider world.
